HANG UPS, stars writer and producer Stephen Mangan as Richard Pitt, a therapist trying to re-launch his career after the disastrous collapse of his group therapy practice. His new form of therapy, carried out via quick-fire webcam sessions, examines a hilariously outrageous catalogue of neuroses, phobias, issues, anxieties and psychopathies and not all of them belong to his patients!
When you add in teenage children, unconventional parents, an anally-fixated therapist and a high-flying wife (who has issues of her own not the least of which is a perverse boss with a vivid fantasy life) then what hope does Richard have? In fact, what hope do any of his clients have..?
Adapted from the Emmy-nominated American comedy series Web Therapy from Friends star Lisa Kudrow, Stephen, alongside his producer wife Louise Delamere and co-writer/director brother-in-law Robert Delamere, has created a comedy series for the modern family. Filmed predominantly from the viewpoint of electronic device cameras Hang Ups captures the home and social life of this 21st century chaotic working family.
This heavily improvised and startlingly unpredictable comedy guest stars some of Britain's best-loved actors, including David Tennant, Jessica Hynes, Charles Dance, Richard E. Grant, Katherine Parkinson, Celia Imrie, Paul Ritter, Karl Theobald, Conleth Hill, Sarah Hadland, Alice Lowe, Steve Oram and Arsher Ali as well as up-and-comers Lolly Adefope, Bebe Cave and Fionn O’Shea.
