Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is a marvellous and immersive multi-room experience which will delight fans of all ages! Launched on 29th of November 2018 at the ExCel London, visitors have the opportunity to delve into the backstory of each Avengers member as they train to become the next Marvel Agent.
Agent Maria Hill welcomes visitors via a screen projection and explains a thing or two before wannabe Agents can step inside the world of the hugely successful Marvel Universe. Btw S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is an acronym for ‘Science Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network’ in case you were wondering…
Once granted admission, fans get the opportunity to interact with props and characters they all know from the big screen. It is also an exciting learning curve (especially for youngsters!) as the experience provides a mega dose of science and technology not only as seen in the numerous films but it should awaken some interest – and possibly raise some questions – with regards to science and technology in the real world.
The Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. debuts a massive collection of movie-based props and interactive technology. That said, please note that in London this spectacular exhibition will only run until the end of March 2019 (unlike in Las Vegas, where it has set up a permanent exhibition).
Fans will be treated to never before seen character displays on Black Panther, The Wasp and Thanos while Ant-Man is not only honoured with his own costume display but if you look closely you can see ants crawling along the carpet (not real ants you might be relieved to know). The Dark Elves displays are particularly sinister while a holographic image of The Destroyer equally leaves visitors with a feel of unease. Bruce Banner’s brain transformation can be accessed via an interactive Bio Lab chart while the transformed Bruce Banner, better known as the Incredible Hulk, is proudly displayed on a gigantic holograph screen. At a separate table, fans can measure their hands next to the Hulk’s and of course, the Hulkbuster in all its glory also gets its very own display!
Other highlights include The Thor Observatory – dedicated to Thor Odinson – King of Asgard. Once again we can marvel at the costume while a holographic image of Thor’s brother Loki reminds us that foe is often closer than friend… Aspiring Agents can test their worthiness by attempting to lift Thor’s hammer – and good luck to you!
We also gain access to Captain America’s personnel file and thus explore the state-of-the-art science that transformed unassuming Steve Rogers into, well, Captain America! If that wasn’t enough you can even sit on his Harley and imagine how awesome it might be to chase enemies at full speed.
Especially entertaining is the Iron Man Engineering Bay where trainee agents not only get the opportunity to strike a pose next to Iron Man’s iconic suits of armour but thanks to the wonders of modern technology those brave enough can experience first hand what a simulated flight (and fight!) inside the suit would be like! All in all, the interactive visit will take roughly 70 minutes. Before visitors exit they need to undergo one more test in order to prove that their mission to become a Marvel Agent has been successfully accomplished. Fans are furthermore invited to leave comments in a guestbook dedicated to the late Stan Lee, without whom the Marvel Universe simply wouldn’t be what it is.
Marvel Avenger’s S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is open daily from 10am – 10pm and the easiest route is by taking the Docklands Light Railway and then get off at Prince Regent station (where the exhibition is opposite the Aloft Hotel).
The ExCel Exhibition Centre is at:
Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL
